With China’s week-long National Day holiday approaching, to better cope with expected massive increase in the amount of passenger traffic and implement strategies based on the guidelines issued in conjunction with the country’s celebration of September as Quality Month, Fuzhou Metro Group teamed up with the Fujian office of Hitachi Elevator (China) on September 27 to launch the Metro Safe City Shuttle public safety demonstration event at Liangcuo Station along the extension portion of Fuzhou Metro Line 1.
Aiming to improve the ability of Fuzhou Metro to quickly deal with the emergency when accidents occur, the Fujian Special Equipment Inspection and Research Institute, the Fuzhou Municipal Market Supervision and Administration Bureau and several other government agencies offered their support by providing on-site guidance.
In addition to giving a presentation on elevator laws and regulations as well as offering several safety tips to passengers through on-site displays, the Fuzhou Municipal Market Supervision and Administration Bureau and Hitachi Elevator’s Fujian office answered questions on elevator safety from members of the audience which included a mix of metro passengers and executives in the real estate sector.
As one of the event highlights, the emergency rescue exercise undertaken by the joint rescue team based on a simulated accident on the subway escalator received several rounds of applause from the audience. The exercise simulated the emergency situation when some passengers slipped and fell on the escalator. Station staff immediately rushed to the scene to comfort and lend aid to the passengers, reported the incident to the car control room through the interphone, and notified the Hitachi elevator maintenance personnel to come and check the operation of the escalator.
Sixty Hitachi elevators and escalators are in operation along Metro Line 1, ensuring that tens of thousands of riders can easily and conveniently enter and exit the many stations along the line every day. In order to cope with the massive number of riders and ensure their safety, Hitachi Elevator will continue to work with Fuzhou Metro to continuously improve the training of relevant personnel as part of the mission further enhance the safety of urban public transportation.
